PARIS — June 18, 2025 AirAsia has once again claimed the title of World’s Best Low-Cost Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2025, solidifying its position as the industry leader for an unprecedented 16th year in a row.
The award, presented at the prestigious Paris Air Show on Tuesday, celebrates AirAsia’s lasting impact on budget air travel across Southeast Asia and beyond. Known for its affordable fares, reliable service, and extensive route network, the airline connects travelers to over 130 destinations through its multi-hub operations in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia.

Accepting the award, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Chairman of Capital A and Co-Founder of AirAsia, reflected on the airline’s journey. “Sixteen years later, this recognition means as much as it did the first time. What began as a simple dream to make air travel affordable for everyone has turned into a mission that continues to soar higher each year. Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted praised AirAsia’s consistency in a rapidly evolving market. “To win this title sixteen times in a fiercely competitive and growing sector is a remarkable feat. AirAsia has proven its dedication to delivering high-quality, affordable travel experiences,” he said.
More than just a budget airline, AirAsia has played a critical role in opening up new travel corridors by connecting major hubs with smaller, often underserved, cities. The Skytrax World Airline Awards, often dubbed the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” are determined through one of the most comprehensive passenger satisfaction surveys globally. This year’s survey gathered feedback from over 22.3 million travelers representing more than 100 nationalities between September 2024 and May 2025, covering over 325 airlines.
