Phnom Penh, June 9, 2025 — The Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia has issued a public statement warning against the spread of misinformation related to recent Thai-Cambodian border tensions. The Ministry emphasized that certain Thai media outlets and local social media platforms have circulated false claims that risk inciting ethnic hatred and escalating the situation.
In its official announcement, the Ministry urged all Cambodian citizens to trust only verified information, particularly from the Royal Government and the Ministries of National Defense of both countries.
"The Ministry of National Defense would like to inform the public that in the past few days, some Thai media outlets and local social media outlets have been spreading false information that has led to misunderstandings that could inflame ethnic hatred and further escalate the situation. In this regard, the Ministry of National Defense calls on all compatriots to accept only information from clear sources, especially information provided by the Royal Government and the Ministries of National Defense of both countries, which are official, true, accurate, and trustworthy sources of information.
To maintain peace, good friendship, and avoid eventual war.
Thank you for peace!
Thank you for the win-win policy!
Grateful to the founder, sole guide, and operator of the win-win policy that brought peace and complete national unity!"
The statement closes by reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to peace and unity, crediting the country’s “win-win policy” for maintaining national stability.
