Beauty with purpose, crowned with history—Suchata Chuangsri makes Thailand and Southeast Asia proud on the global stage.

In a groundbreaking moment for Thailand and the Southeast Asian region, Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 on May 31, becoming the first Thai woman in history to win the prestigious international title. The 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant was held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, where contestants from 108 countries and territories competed for the crown. Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, Miss World 2024, passed on the crown to Suchata in an emotional finale that lit up the arena and the entire region.

Co-hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and Indian host Sachin Kumbhar, the event featured electric performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter, adding Bollywood glamour to the already star-studded night. Suchata’s win is historic, marking Thailand’s first-ever Miss World title, and only the second time a Southeast Asian country has secured the crown, following the Philippines’ Megan Young in 2013.

A Regional Celebration Social media erupted with messages of pride and celebration from across ASEAN nations. For many, Suchata’s victory symbolizes the growing influence of Southeast Asia on the global stage—not only in beauty and fashion but in advocacy and leadership. Fans and commentators highlighted her grace, intellect, and powerful advocacy message centered on educational equity in underdeveloped communities.

“She’s not just Thailand’s queen—she’s a Southeast Asian icon,” wrote a Cambodian pageant enthusiast on Facebook. “This is a win for all of us.”

Pageantry with Purpose Miss World has long emphasized its "Beauty With A Purpose" mission, and Suchata exemplified that ideal throughout the competition. Her charity project focused on improving access to education and digital resources for children in rural Thai provinces—a cause she spoke passionately about in the final Q&A round. With this win, Thailand joins an elite circle of nations whose representatives have worn the Miss World crown. The victory also continues the region’s rising prominence in international pageantry, following notable placements in Miss Universe and Miss Supranational in recent years by delegates from Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

What’s Next? As Miss World 2025, Suchata will embark on a year-long global tour promoting humanitarian causes, attending international events, and representing the Miss World organization with grace and vision. For Thailand—and for all of Southeast Asia—this moment will be remembered as not just a crowning glory, but a symbol of rising unity, beauty, and purpose.
